New European Union regulations for VAT reporting

On January 1, 2010, new European Union (EU) regulations for VAT reporting take effect. This whitepaper describes how Microsoft Dynamics NAV will support the changes to VAT reporting required by the VAT 2010 package.

The VAT 2010 package changes the VAT reporting for cross-border trade of goods and services within the EU. The changes affect business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-customer (B2C) trade. As each EU member state implements these directives, Microsoft Dynamics NAV will be updated to accommodate the legal requirements of that member state. Updates will be published for companies to install by end of December of 2009.

Dynamics NAV 5.0 SP1 and export to Excel

After implementing Update 1 for Dynamic Nav 5.0 DK SP1, some of our customers experienced that decimal fields were multiplied with 100 when exporting to Excel still using style sheets for Dynamic Nav 5.0. We have found a solution of this problem with help from Jasminka Vukovic on “Nav Developers Blog”.

A number of issues previously reported when running with Dynamics NAV 5.0 and using send-to Excel functionality, are now corrected. These issues include (among others): decimals exported as text, Item/Customer numbers exported as decimals, dates exported as decimals.

To implement correction, update with 5.0 SP1, update 1 (KB 956161, build 27191), use default style sheets included in SP1, and make the following change to default style sheet NavisionExportToExcel.xslt:

Open the style sheet file in notepad, default file is NavisionFormToExcel, placed in Stylesheet folder of the Client folder.

Browse to the following line:
<xsl:when test="@subtype != 'number'">
and replace the line with
<xsl:when test="@datatype != 'Decimal'">

Then locate the following line:
<xsl:when test="@subtype = 'number'">
and replace the line with
<xsl:when test="@datatype = 'Decimal'">

Menu items or menu groups that are sent to shortcuts disappear from the original menu in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 or in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 5.0 SP1

Consider the following scenario:
1. You move the Shortcuts menu to the top of the Navigation Pane in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 or in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 5.0 Service Pack 1 (SP1).
2. You send some menu items or menu groups to the Shortcuts menu.
3. You restart Microsoft Dynamics NAV.
In this scenario, the menu items or menu groups that are sent to the Shortcuts menu disappear from the original menu.

Additionally, if you delete the menu items or menu groups from the Shortcuts menu when the Shortcuts menu is at the top of the Navigation Pane, the menu items or menu groups are removed from the Navigation Pane completely. If you want to add them back to the Navigation Pane, you have to ask the menu suite administrator to reset them.

To implement correction, update with 5.0 SP1, update 1.18 (KB 970545, build 29048),
